CMM Archive - ‘Business As Usual’ at Lakeland Motor Museum

FOLLOWING THE AFTERMATH OF Storm Desmond, the Lakeland Motor Museum is drumming home the message that it’s ‘business as usual’ and it’s more than ready to welcome visitors to see its 30,000 exhibits.

Despite the recent TV images of flooding across the North of England, the popular Lake District museum was completely unaffected by flood waters and remained open through the wet weather. Now, bosses at the attraction say they are determined to spread the word that they are fully open and accessible to residents and tourists alike.

Edwin Maher, Director at the Lakeland Motor Museum, told CMM: “We need to overcome the perception that the Lake District is ‘closed’ or inaccessible to visitors following the recent turbulent weather – this couldn’t be further from the truth! On the contrary, the Museum itself was unaffected by the flooding and we are definitely open as usual for a great day out.”

He adds: “There is also direct access from the M6 motorway to the Museum and from here, visitors can go on to explore Windermere and South Lakes quickly and easily.”

In total, the Lakeland Motor Museum offers a unique collection of 30,000 exhibits for visitors to enjoy, including 150 classic cars and motorbikes, all carefully assembled over 50 years. Star exhibits include the Isle of Man TT Tribute Exhibition and the Campbell Bluebird Exhibition.

The attraction is open seven days a week, every day of the year (except Christmas Day). There is also a riverside café and a connecting bus from Lakeside, operating every weekend during winter and daily in the summer months.

Meanwhile, the owners of classic cars, motorbikes, van and trucks are all being invited to the Museum on Sunday 17 April, (10am - 4.30pm) for another of the Museum’s popular ClassicDrive & Ride In Days.
